Design Engineer Sr

Job Description :
1. Design mechanical components.
Create functional mechanical designs within the criteria and time frame as communicated by the Lead Mechanical Design Engineering. Conceptualize design, applying knowledge of technology and materials to produce a design that considers: functionality appearance, productivity, availability and cost.
2. Develop mechanical system designs.
Conceptualize, design and develop system specifications, applying knowledge of technology and materials to produce a design that considers; functionality, appearance, product ability, materials availability, and cost. Perform these tasks within the communicated criteria and time frame.
3. Coordinate with the involved shops to assure that the design criteria are met.
Develops, controls, and updates aircraft matrix. Communicate designs, data, and specifications to shop managers/personnel in a clear, and concise manner (i.e. with the minimum of time spent, resulting in minimal errors), in a time frame relevant to the urgency of the project. Revise designs within the design criteria throughout the project without delaying the application of manpower or completion of the project. Resolve problems, delays etc. in a time frame consistent with the need. Report unresolved problems, delays etc. to the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for resolution in a time frame consistent with the need.
4. Perform product/vendor searches.
In a time frame relevant to the assigned project, identify potential products and/or vendors that meet the design criteria and consider functionality, appearance, producibility, availability, and cost. Report findings and recommend course of action to Manager of Design Engineering within the required time frame.
5. Arrange sample product delivery/acquisition for prototype evaluation.
When assigned, or when needed for a design project, obtain sample products as available from a vendor.
6. Perform value engineering.
In the time frame assigned, perform value analysis and present options with a recommended course of action to the Manager of Design Engineering for approval.
7. Communication Skills.
Work directly with Lead Mechanical Design Engineer on development and review of completion specifications. These specifications will be broken down into an on-going workload for the Mechanical Design Engineer. Good Verbal and written skills are required.
Basic Qualifications
Background in the physical sciences, manufacturing techniques, engineering, economics, and engineering graphics.
Desired skills
Knowledge of Aviation and associated practices.
Extensive knowledge of PC systems.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
CAD experience with CATIA v5.
MatrixOne experience.
LCA experience.
