Availability of Position: Immediate
Schedule: Part Time Plus, scheduled hours to meet program needs. Some evenings and weekends may be required for adequate client access.
Reporting Relationship: Corps Officer
Salary Grade: 70 Non-Exempt
Position Overview: The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for the daily functioning and oversight of the food pantry program within The Salvation Army Coatesville area. Plan in cooperation with Corps Officer a Food Choice model that incorporates Fresh Express larger scale distributions as well as daily access and provision to fresh foods. Provide direct pantry services to clients including educational opportunities with budgeting and healthy eating. Manage the food and supply inventory, maintain program records and equipment. Recruit, train, manage and supervise volunteers to perform majority of direct service pantry operations. Utilize resources of donations, allocations, and grants effectively. Other duties as assigned.
Description of Position: The Food Service Coordinator primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the development and implementation of a Food Choice Pantry model that incorporates both daily appointments with clients as well as larger scale fresh food distributions. The Food Service Coordinator will work cooperatively with the Corps Officer in the ordering of the food pantry inventory and how it is displayed and stored per ServSafe requirements. The Food Service Coordinator will also collaborate with the Corps Officer in the provision of educational opportunities around nutrition and wellness in addition to food tastings. Other projects will be assigned by the supervisor that requires the ability to work independently and will demand strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
HS Diploma or GED equivalent and minimum of two years prior work experience with food programs or pantry service, a plus.
Valid Driver's License and able to obtain insurance clearances as determined by The Salvation Army's insurance company.
Drive TSA fleet vehicles as needed and assigned.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with strong problem solving skills and good judgment.
Detail oriented, flexible, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to use materials and finances resourcefully in a non-profit environment.
Ability to enforce The Salvation Army policies and expectations for clients and community.
Ability to recruit, train and supervise program volunteers.
Must understand and maintain confidentiality.
Should be self-motivated and exhibit strong initiative and positive communication skills.
Ability to build rapport quickly with people from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, Email and database systems and spreadsheets.
Spanish as a second language would be beneficial.
Must be able to adapt and change to meet the needs of The Salvation Army and the community.
ServeSafe, CPR and First Aid Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment, if not current.
As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every three years thereafter.
Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
