Credentialing Program Assistant

Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinates provider applications (initial and renewals) for credentials and privileges within the Veterans Health Care System. Initiates application package within technical requirements per specialty of provider. Educates providers and serves as a technical resource on application requirements and deadlines. Initiates application folder and database account (VetPro) to meet technical requirements. Continuous review of national and local policy and procedures. Comparison between Curriculum Vitae (CV) and application must be accomplished to identify discrepancies, gaps and/or red flags. Must be able to thoroughly research and document primary source verification of applicant's education, training and personal history (medical staff appointments and clinical privileges) to document past/current competency. The incumbent must understand local VetPro polices to address concurrent appointments in VetPro, sharing files, exporting data, facility level access, responding to passwords and enabling resets, incident reporting, and inactivation of VetPro files. Educates providers on access, data requirements, and ability to instruct applicants on the navigation of computer applications Prepares correspondence to providers and service chiefs such as Focus Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) in response to action items determined by the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff (MEB) Receives responses to FPPE actions and determines next course of action according to standard operating procedures or consults with the supervisor for unique situations. Ensures the periodic recurring evaluation of clinical performance for continuation of clinical privileges for each privileged practitioner. Coordinates periodic evaluation process with appropriate officials in the clinical department and prepares requested documentation for review by the Credentialing and Privileging Committee, Chief of Staff, and Medical Center Director Receives, reviews, and disseminates credentialing and privileging policies, procedures, and information from The Joint Commission, VHA, CARF, state agencies, NCQA, URAC, CMC, Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Office of Inspector General (OIG), VHA Handbook 1100.19, VHA Directive 2002-030 and other health care sources as appropriate Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:

Physical Requirements:
The work is mostly sedentary; however, walking and stair climbing, bending, stooping and carrying light weight documents, folders and manuals are required. Hearing and distinct speech are essential due to the extensive use of the telephone as a means of communication to give instruction and receive information. Incumbent must possess manual dexterity to enter computer information. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
