Has a basic knowledge of modified diets, can select appropriate food items using the modified menu as a guide Uses standard portions for cold food by placing uniform amounts in individual serving dishes. Works quickly, neatly, and accurately while assembling trays, preparing food items needed throughout the service. Loads and transports food and tray carts, lowerators, food conveyors, etc., from one area to another. Delivers meal carts to units Sweeps and mops floors, cleans and sanitizes work and dining surfaces and surrounding areas. Maintains cleanliness of all food service areas Makes coffee according to the number of servings needed, with responsibility for timing Makes simple cold sandwiches, desserts, packs box lunches, and makes toast. Opens cans, breads, and pans fish, poultry, pork chops, etc., as required Maintains water and detergent levels in dishwashing machines, removing strainer pans, checks machine at doors; etc., for proper cleaning of dishwasher inside and out; removes calcium deposits as required; restores rooms to orderliness in addition to loading and unloading dishwashing machine, stacks and stores dishes. Cleans refrigerated and non-refrigerated storage areas, gives detailed cleaning to all mobile and stationary equipment, either manually or by operating the pressure washer. Operates dishwashing machines, waste pulper and other power equipment. Keeps work areas clean and tidy at all times. Attends classes and meetings in all phases of food service, food production, safety, sanitation, nutrition, etc Performs other related duties in the food service and food production areas as required. Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
The work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted but is usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. The worker is regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration, freezing units and work areas. The employee is required to wear protective shoes and gloves or other items required by food handling guides.
